Cesar Martinez killed in car crash on Highway 29 and Highway 12

NAPA COUNTY, CA (July 22, 2024) Cesar Martinez died in a multi-car crash on Highway 29 and Highway 12.

California Highway Patrol officers received the accident report around 11:13 p.m. on Wednesday. When they arrived, they found that three vehicles were involved in the crash that resulted in the death of 38-year-old Cesar Gomez Martinez.

For unknown reasons, a 66-year-old man from Sparta, Missouri, ran a red light while traveling westbound in his 2004 Dodge Ram 2500. He then struck the left side of a southbound 2019 Volkswagen Golf that had a green light.

From there, the Dodge, pulling a 2004 camper trailer, skidded and struck a 2022 GMC Sierra 2500 HD at a red light while the Volkswagen struck a pole.

Minutes later, emergency responders arrived and took the 45-year-old GMC driver to a hospital with chest, neck and shoulder injuries. Tragically, Martinez, the Volkswagen driver, succumbed to his serious injuries.

So far, CHP officers have not made any arrests and believe drugs and alcohol are not a factor.

Our sincere thoughts and condolences go out to the family and friends of Cesar Gomez Martinez.
