Pakistan offers Oman assistance in investigating deadly incident

The Royal Oman Police said on Tuesday that it had, in cooperation with the military and security services, completed “the procedures to deal with the shooting incident” that occurred on Monday evening in the Wadi Al Kabir area of ​​Muscat Governorate.

Pakistan has strongly condemned the “terrorist” attack on a mosque in Wadi Al Kabir in the capital of Oman. The mosque was visited by numerous Pakistani residents of the Sultanate on the occasion of the Ashura festival.

According to the Royal Oman Police, three perpetrators and six people, including a police officer, were killed in the shooting on Monday evening.

It was also reported that 28 people of various nationalities were injured, including four members of the Royal Oman Police and the Civil Defence and Ambulance Authority who were carrying out their national duty.

According to the Pakistani Foreign Ministry, two Pakistani citizens were among the dead. The Pakistani embassy in Oman said it was working closely with the Omani authorities to repatriate the bodies.

Omani police neutralized the attackers, but authorities did not identify the perpetrators.

A statement from the Pakistani Foreign Ministry and the Pakistani Embassy said Pakistan had offered to assist in the investigation and “bring the perpetrators of the incident to justice.”

The Pakistani embassy in Muscat said in a statement on X that the country’s ambassador to Muscat, Imran Ali, visited hospitals to check the condition of injured Pakistani citizens.
