Man arrested on two counts of sexual assault but linked to other victims in DFW and Atlanta, police say

A 25-year-old man arrested last month in connection with two sexual assaults may have attacked other victims in North Texas and Atlanta, Carrollton police said Wednesday.

On Feb. 11, police responded to a report of an assault after being contacted by a victim who was being treated at a local hospital, according to the Carrollton police news release.

The next day, Carlton Tambaoga was arrested and charged with sexual assault, the press release said.

During the investigation, investigators were able to identify another possible victim who allegedly attacked Tambaoga on February 13. Another case of sexual assault was filed against him, police said.

Tambaoga was tested for HIV and was positive, the release said. He remains in custody at the Denton County Jail.

While the investigation is ongoing, police say investigators have identified four additional victims who had contact with Tambaoga. The investigation indicates the suspect may have sexually assaulted additional individuals in the Dallas-Fort Worth metropolitan area, Houston and Atlanta, Georgia, who have not yet come forward, police said in the news release.

Authorities are working to reach them as new evidence emerges during the ongoing investigation.

Carrollton police recommend that victims contact a local sexual assault victim program that offers confidential services such as counseling, advocacy, medical referrals and legal assistance—if they have not already filed a report with police. Advocates can also ask victims to accompany them in filing a report with the local police department.
