St. Peters man arrested after armed robbery Saturday morning in West Columbia

COLUMBIA, Missouri (KMIZ)

Columbia police arrested a St. Peters man on Saturday for an armed robbery in West Columbia.

According to a press release, Damiere French, 18, of St. Peters, Missouri, was arrested for an armed robbery in the 2100 block of West Broadway. French is charged with first-degree robbery, second-degree burglary, resisting arrest, armed criminal action and unlawful use of a weapon.

A witness told police he was trying to leave a parking lot around 11:15 a.m. when two men entered his vehicle, displayed a gun and demanded his keys and phone, the news release said.

The two men then left the vehicle.

The victim later saw the suspect and gave a description of the suspect to police, who arrested him after a short chase.

According to police, there are two other suspects who are not in custody.
