Tropical Storm Beryl sends storms to Midstate on Tuesday

TONIGHT:

Very hot and humid weather is expected for the rest of the afternoon. There is a 20 percent chance of a passing shower or thunderstorm in your area. Keep cool and avoid overexerting yourself outdoors. The high in Nashville is 95°.

The night will remain very warm and quite humid. Low: 76.

TUESDAY – DAY OF THE FIRST WEATHER WARNING:

Tuesday is a First Alert Weather Day as a few strong to severe thunderstorms are possible. Isolated damaging wind gusts and isolated tornadoes are possible with any thunderstorm. The greatest chance for severe weather will be in the afternoon and evening. Southwestern Kentucky and northwestern Middle Tennessee also have the greatest risk for severe storms.

Tuesday’s showers and storms will develop in response to the remnants of Tropical Storm Beryl, which is passing to the west. It should move across southeast Missouri and southern Illinois and Indiana, but close enough to the Midwest to pose a severe storm threat.

Despite the chance of storms, Tuesday will be another very hot and humid day. High: 93 degrees. Heat indices will be between 90 and 100 degrees.

WEDNESDAY TO FRIDAY:

Rain chances drop to 20% on Wednesday as the remnants of Beryl move farther away from the Mid-State. It will be cooler and the humidity a little lower. High: 86.

THIS WEEKEND AND BEYOND:

Late this week, over the weekend and well into next week, we’re likely to see very hot weather again.
