Man charged with assault after ‘domestic incident’ in West Barnstable

A man was taken into custody and charged with assault after police were called to a domestic dispute on Great Marsh Road in West Barnstable Sunday afternoon, Cape and Islands District Attorney Robert Galibois said by phone.

“I want to acknowledge the great work of the Barnstable Police Department. They were patient, determined and professional throughout and thanks to their efforts, the incident ended peacefully after approximately five hours and we are extremely grateful,” Cape and Islands District Attorney Robert Galibois said at the scene.

Galibois also said he believes the man is also receiving medical treatment. Police, firefighters and sniffer dogs were all alerted to the incident.
