WBC suspends Garcia for racist remarks

World Boxing Council President Mauricio Sulaiman has suspended American boxer Ryan Garcia after he used racist slurs and Islamophobic language on social media.

The American, who was banned from boxing for a year last month for an anti-doping violation, made the comments at X’s.

In a now-deleted post on X, Garcia, 25, wrote: “I was trolling. I want all the killing to stop. I love everyone. Sorry if I offended you.”

In a statement by the WBC, they rejected any form of discrimination and anti-Islamic language.

“I exercise my authority as President of the WBC and hereby exclude Ryan Garcia from any activity in our organization.

“We reject any form of discrimination.”
