Man dies in pedestrian accident in Antioch on Lone Tree Way

ANTIOCH, CA (June 25, 2024) – A 71-year-old man died in a pedestrian accident on Lone Tree Way near Muirwood Drive.

According to Antioch police, the fatal pedestrian accident occurred on Sunday at around 10:33 p.m. When a 71-year-old pedestrian crossed the street despite a traffic light, he was struck by a car driver in a crosswalk.

Antioch police and paramedics subsequently responded to the scene, but the pedestrian succumbed to his injuries. Authorities have not released his name. The driver remained on scene and cooperated with investigators, who ruled out impairment as a possible explanation for the incident.

Moments later, an elderly woman drove through the police line and nearly drove over the man’s body. From there, five Antioch police officers attempted to pursue her but were able to catch up. The elderly woman appeared confused and disoriented and was given a ride home by an officer.
