Woman killed in car crash in East St. Louis

A woman died in a car accident early Tuesday in East St. Louis.

According to St. Clair County Coroner Calvin Dye Sr., her identity will not be released pending notification of her family.

According to a release from Illinois State Police, the accident occurred around 5:18 a.m. on 8th Street in East St. Louis.

East St. Louis police asked Illinois State Police to conduct a death investigation, the release said.

No further details were released.
