GoFundMe campaign launched for Apple Valley woman killed in motorcycle crash on Highway 247 – VVNG.com

LUCERNE VALLEY, California (VVNG.com) — A 42-year-old woman from Apple Valley, Kristina Kimseywas tragically killed Thursday afternoon when her motorcycle was struck head-on by a car on Old Woman Springs Road (Highway 247).

The incident occurred on June 20, 2024, at around 6:25 p.m. on Visalia Avenue, according to California Highway Patrol dispatch logs.

Kimsey was riding a 2000 Harley-Davidson motorcycle northbound when the accident occurred. A 2020 Toyota Corolla, driven by a 43-year-old Apple Valley man, was traveling southbound.

CHP officials reported: “This accident occurred when the driver of the Toyota drove to the left of the solid yellow line to pass slower moving traffic, directly into the path of the Harley-Davidson, causing a head-on collision.”

Kimsey was thrown from her motorcycle and suffered serious injuries. Paramedics confirmed her death at the scene. The driver of the Toyota suffered minor injuries and was treated at the scene.

The Apple Valley Unified School District said Ms. Kimsey began her career in November 2017 as a teacher’s aide in Rancho Verde. She later transferred to Desert Knolls as a special education teacher’s aide in February 2018. In September 2019, she began teaching in the SUCCESS/ACHIEVE program in Yucca Loma. She recently transferred to Phoenix Academy with the ACHIEVE program and was scheduled to return to Yucca Loma in the upcoming school year.
