2 dead after shooting on New Tampa Boulevard, police say

Police are investigating after two people were killed in a shooting in New Tampa on Friday afternoon.

The shooting occurred shortly after 2:30 p.m. in the 8000 block of New Tampa Boulevard, Tampa police said in a news release. When officers arrived, they found a man suffering from gunshot wounds who was pronounced dead at the scene.

A short time later, police found a vehicle near Bearss Avenue with two more people suffering from gunshot wounds. One person was pronounced dead and the other was taken to a hospital with injuries that were not considered life-threatening, police said.

“The investigation is still in its early stages, but it appears that everyone involved knows each other and that this is not a coincidence. There is no danger to the public,” the press release states.
