Missing man, 25, found dead in Leelanau County

LEELANAU COUNTY, MI – A missing 25-year-old man has been found dead.

The Leelanau County Sheriff’s Office said the body of Nicholas Wiesen Bentzien of Empire was found around 11 a.m. Wednesday in the northern part of Leelanau Township.

He was last seen on the afternoon of May 3, when he left his job early and stopped by his Lake Street home. Officers have been looking for him ever since.

He left his home in a dark green 1997 Nissan Pathfinder, which officers had asked the public to be on the lookout for.

Bentzien’s death is under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to contact Leelanau County Dispatch at 231-256-8800.
