Police Reports: Accident briefly closes 417 in Wellsville | Allegany County

WELLSVILLE – An accident caused a temporary traffic delay in both directions on Route 417 in Wellsville Wednesday afternoon.

A two-vehicle collision was reported at 12:13 p.m. Wednesday, resulting in the closure of Route 417. An Allegany County emergency dispatcher confirmed the time and location of the collision but could not comment on possible injuries.

The road was reopened after about an hour.

No further information was available on Wednesday evening.

New York State Police

  • ALFRED — Ricky L. Armstrong, 44, of Alfred, was charged at 8:31 a.m. Tuesday with fourth-degree criminal coercion and criminal obstruction of breathing, Class A misdemeanors. The charges stem from an incident reported on April 27th. Armstrong was released with an appearance ticket.
  • CANEADEA – An 18-year-old Wellsville resident was charged with Class A Forcible Touching/Intimate Body Parts and Acts Harmful to a Child at 6:45 p.m. Tuesday. The charges stem from an incident reported on April 14th. The suspect was released with an appearance ticket.
  • RICHBURG — Stephen M. Damerst, 55, of Richburg, was charged with fourth-degree criminal breach of trust, a Class A misdemeanor, at 9:45 p.m. Tuesday. Damerst was released with an appearance ticket.
