Voluntown residents were urged to seek shelter in case of suspicious incident

Some Voluntown residents were ordered to stay home Wednesday during an ongoing state police investigation.

According to the Connecticut State Police, officers from Troop E responded to a residence on Hell Hollow Road shortly before 11:30 a.m. for a “suspicious incident.”

Both the State Police Emergency Response Unit and Drone Unit were dispatched to assist with the unspecified investigation, while neighbors within a one-mile radius were told to shelter in place, State Police said. Others were asked to avoid the area while the investigation continues.

State police did not initially provide any further details.
