Police arrest man who allegedly sexually assaulted a woman in New Jersey last year

A man accused of physically and sexually assaulting a woman in Paterson last year was arrested Sunday, officials said.

The woman reported on June 17, 2023, that she had been attacked the previous day in the area of ​​10th Avenue at East 26th Street in the city and that an investigation had been launched, according to a statement from the Passaic County District Attorney’s Office.

Keshawn Harley, 38, of Paterson, was identified as the suspect and charged with sexual assault, aggravated assault and simple assault, the office said.

Harley was arrested at 10 a.m. Sunday in the area of ​​Park Avenue and East 22nd Street in the city, authorities said.

Prosecutors said they would file a motion to keep him in jail until his trial begins, a decision that will be made during a detention hearing scheduled for June 25.
