Darrow woman arrested for first-degree murder | Pelican Post

According to Sheriff Bobby Webre, detectives with the Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office arrested 52-year-old Kendra Washington of Darrow on charges of first-degree murder and illegal use of a weapon.

On Saturday, June 15, at approximately 11:00 p.m., officers responded to a shooting at a residence on Highway 75 in Darrow. Upon arrival, officers found a male suspect suffering from a gunshot wound. He was transported to an area hospital where he was later pronounced dead from his injuries.

The victim was identified as Mark Perkins, 45, of Darrow.

During their investigation, detectives learned that Washington and the victim were in a relationship. Washington, who initially denied firing the fatal shot, later confessed to investigators that she shot Perkins with a handgun after an argument that escalated into physical violence. She was arrested and booked into the Ascension Parish Jail.
