Linden Police Investigate Fatal Car Crash on South Park Avenue

ROCKLAND COUNTY, NY — The Rockland County District Attorney’s Office has announced the retirement of Chief Marty Reilly from the City of Ramapo Police Department, honoring his distinguished career that spanned nearly four decades.

Chief Reilly, the 8th Police Chief in Ramapo’s history, began his career in law enforcement at the Orange County Police Academy in September 1984. He began his career with the City of Woodbury Police Department in January 1985 before transferring to the City of Ramapo Police Department in April 1987.

During his tenure, Chief Reilly held several key positions. In 1999, he was promoted to Sergeant and in 2007 was assigned to the Special Services Division, where he supervised traffic safety officers, community police officers, school resource officers, and DARE officers. He also coordinated the Ramapo Police Youth Academy. His rise through the ranks continued with a promotion to Lieutenant in 2010, where he led the Patrol Division, and later to Captain in 2016, where he served as Operations Commander overseeing the Patrol and Investigations Divisions. In 2019, he was appointed Chief of Staff and became the department’s second in command before being named Chief in 2021.

Chief Reilly’s close working relationship with the Rockland County District Attorney’s Office was a hallmark of his career. At his retirement ceremony, District Attorney Tom Walsh, Assistant District Attorney Patrick Frawley and Chief of Criminal Investigation Deirdre Smith expressed their gratitude for his exceptional service and dedication.

Chief Reilly’s retirement marks the end of an era for the City of Ramapo Police Department and leaves behind a legacy of dedication and leadership. The Rockland County community wishes Chief Reilly the best in a well-deserved and fulfilling retirement.
