Former Pittsburgh Steelers DT arrested again

PITTSBURGH – Former Pittsburgh Steelers defensive tackle and sixth-round draft pick Isaiah Buggs is in legal trouble again. Buggs, 27, was arrested for the second time this summer. The news was first broken by Ari Meirov of The 33rd Team via his X account.

It appears that this incident is unrelated to his previous arrest this summer. According to the arrest report released by Meirov, Buggs is charged with second-degree domestic violence and burglary.

This is the second arrest this summer for Buggs, 27. He was arrested in May on animal cruelty charges. He turned himself in to Tuscaloosa police and was later released on bail. A court date has been set for later this summer. Buggs maintained his innocence throughout the proceedings and his agent issued a statement denying the allegations.

Because of the off-field issues, Buggs’ status for the upcoming season is uncertain. Even if he is legally cleared of all charges, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell could still initiate disciplinary proceedings for violating the league’s code of conduct. In the meantime, he is still under contract with the Kansas City Chiefs and part of their 90-man roster.

Buggs began his career with the Pittsburgh Steelers after they selected him out of Alabama in the 2019 NFL Draft.
