Deputies working on a single-vehicle accident

At 2:14 a.m. Thursday, Geary County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the K-18 Bypass Highway at mile marker 178 for a car crash with possible injuries. The Sheriff’s Department said Laretta Mathes of Junction City was traveling westbound on the K-18 Bypass in her Nissan Altima when she struck a deer.

Mathes was evaluated by Junction City Fire/EMS for possible injuries. Mathes declined transport to Stormont Vail Hospital. Buds Wrecker Service towed the vehicle due to damage.
