Rape: Man sentenced to 20 years RI for raping and kidnapping a minor | Mumbai News

Mumbai: A special Pocso court on Tuesday sentenced a 27-year-old man to 20 years in prison for the abduction and gang rape of a 12-year-old girl in 2019. A second accused, a minor at the time of the incident, is facing charges in the juvenile court. On January 24, 2019, the girl had run away from home after being beaten up by her mother. The mother had reprimanded the child for not completing her chores. The girl hid in the common toilet. The accused, who was acquainted with her brother, gagged her mouth and dragged her into a house where the youth and he raped her. She was rescued eight days later by a friend of the accused. A case was registered at Shivaji Nagar police station and the accused was arrested. The girl and her mother were among the witnesses. tnn
