Independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. claimed in a statement more than a decade ago that a worm ate part of his brain before dying inside his head.

RFK Jr., now 70, made the bizarre confession during his 2012 divorce trial, detailing “cognitive issues” that he initially feared were a brain tumor – but a second doctor told him the dark ones Spots on his brain scans are a dead parasite. according to the New York Times.

Before getting a second opinion, Kennedy was scheduled to undergo surgery by the same doctor who operated on his uncle, Sen. Edward Kennedy (D-Mass.), who died of brain cancer in 2009.

However, a doctor at New York-Presbyterian Hospital believed that the abnormality in his scans was “caused by a worm that entered my brain, ate part of it and then died,” Kennedy said in the transcribed interview.

RFK Jr. also said during testimony in 2012 that he suffered from mercury poisoning after eating too many tuna fish sandwiches, which doctors told the Times was likely the root cause of Kennedy’s neurological problems.

“I definitely have cognitive problems,” the son of the late New York attorney general and senator said at the time. “I have short-term memory loss and long-term memory loss that affects me.”

Kennedy said he suffered from “severe brain fog” and had difficulty retrieving words around the same time his mercury levels reached 10 times what the Environmental Protection Agency considers safe.

The vaccine-sceptic politician said he was sure his diet caused the problem.

I loved tuna sandwiches. I ate them all the time,” he said.

Kennedy also said he recovered from the memory loss and dizziness and had no after-effects from the parasite, which he said did not require treatment.

The longtime environmental lawyer added that he made several changes following the two health scares, including sleeping more, traveling less and consuming less fish.

The septuagenarian has used his relative youth to make the case for his insurgent candidacy against former President Donald Trump, 77, and President Joe Biden, 81.

Asked whether his health problems would impact his ability to serve as president, a Kennedy campaign spokesman told the Times: “That’s a hilarious suggestion given the competition.”

The front-runner has suffered from a variety of health problems over the years – including atrial fibrillation, a common heartbeat disorder that increases the risk of stroke or heart failure, and substance abuse in his youth.
