Abilene police identify 30-year-old man killed in train-pedestrian incident

ABILENE, Texas (KTAB/KRBC) – The Abilene Police Department (APD) identified 30-year-old Jacob Poor of Abilene as the pedestrian struck by a train in South Abilene Friday morning.

APD told KTAB/KRBC that a pedestrian and the train were both traveling eastbound when they collided at the corner of Leggett Drive and South 1st Street around 10:30 a.m. Friday morning.

Thanks to the efforts of investigators and witnesses, the next of kin were notified on Friday afternoon.

While police continue their investigation, APD said this was the first fatal train accident in Abilene in 2024.
