Strictly’s Ola Jordan exclusively reveals horrific accident involving his ‘strong-willed’ daughter Ella

Professional dancer Ola Jordan has spoken about life at home with her daughter Ella, four, and her husband, dancer James Jordan. HELLO! Split Ola and Ella.

The previous The Strictly star tells how her cute daughter is following in her star dad’s footsteps and taking up one of his favorite hobbies. And it’s not dancing – although little Ella does attend a dance class every week. You can see her boogie dancing in the video below.

In this week’s column, Ola reveals how James is teaching his daughter his favorite sport, golf, and it’s really sweet. Maybe the two will even spend the upcoming Father’s Day training together.

We also learn about Ella’s terrible bike accident, which shocked her parents. Like a true fighter, she got right back on her bike and started cycling!

Read on to learn more about Jordan’s week…

Cheers to kindergarten

Ella is back at kindergarten after the half term break, which is good. She is excited to be back there. During the week off she was so bored at home – it is so hard to keep her entertained. I felt like she was getting naughtier as the week went on.

I think it’s hard for her to play alone, so she always says, “Mommy, can you play with me?” But I can only play for a limited time, I have to take care of other things too.

It’s hard to keep her entertained all the time and she’s into it – she has so much energy. She loves playing games, loves playing sports – she’s a doer.

She loves Lego and so do I. The thing is, Ella and I argue about how we build the Lego. I say, “I want it like this, Ella,” and she says, “No, Mommy, not like that.” We all get annoyed with Lego! She’s very strong-willed. James comes to me and says, “You’re arguing with a four-year-old about Lego.” It’s funny.

Kindergarten is so good for Ella – she comes home full of colour and I don’t have to do that with her all day at home. It’s good for her to play with other children.

Having an only child

Ella is an only child and there is definitely a stigma attached to that, like, “Oh, is that the only child you’re going to have?”

I think that nowadays more and more people are having only one child. In Ella’s kindergarten there are quite a few parents who have only one child and do not plan to have more. This is much more common than it used to be.

Some people can’t have more than one child, so it’s difficult. People always ask about it, but I don’t think it’s a bad thing.

Ella’s bicycle accident

Ella had a pretty bad crash on her bike in the park this week. She’s a really good bike rider now, but she was going around a corner on a gravel section and slipped and fell pretty badly.

Fortunately, Ella is fine after her fall

I was really worried but thankfully she was OK. She had her helmet on and I put a cardigan on her so she had long sleeves. Thankfully she only had minor grazes – she was crying but James encouraged her to get back on her bike and try again.

She was fine. I probably would have said, “Oh no, baby, do you want to take a break?” but James was right to get her back on the bike, otherwise she might have developed a fear of the bike.

She also got injured this week at scooter club. When we picked her up, her arm was all swollen, almost like someone had run over her arm, but we don’t know what happened. She’s too young to explain. Luckily, she can move her arm and it’s OK.

Ella is a Swiftie!

Ella loves Taylor Swift more than anything, she’s a real Swiftie. She loves to go into our living room, turn on music and just sing. She also sings and dances to Meghan Trainor.

She’s dancing in her dress and says, “Mommy, film me!” I have so many videos of her dancing in front of the TV, it’s so cute.

Father’s Day plans with Ella

Maybe we’ll go out to dinner on Father’s Day, because it’s my sister’s birthday too. It depends on what James wants to do. I have a feeling he’s still grieving a lot for his father.

I have to be sensitive about Father’s Day because I know he misses his dad. Even though it’s a happy day for him with Ella, he will still feel that his dad isn’t there.

So if James wants to play golf on Father’s Day, I let him go golf. If he wants to spend the day with Ella, he can. James has taught Ella how to play golf; they go to the driving range together and practice putting, it’s sweet.

Allan had a close bond with Ella

Ella and her grandfather Alan

Ella always asks about her grandfather Alan. She knows that one of her grandfathers is in heaven.

She always asks why he went to heaven and we tell her he was really sick and the doctors couldn’t save him so he went to heaven. She knows Grandpa Alan is in heaven. She asks questions, she asks if she’s going to heaven.

You have to be honest because if something happens in the close family, they need to know. As hard as it is and people try to stop their children from talking about things, if something happens to someone they love, it will affect them just as much as it will affect you.

We have videos of Ella with her grandfather Alan and she watches them, which is lovely.
