A Marion man faces attempted murder charges – and possibly other charges – after Linn County authorities found three adults dead and another adult seriously injured in an outbuilding north of Robins Wednesday afternoon.

The Linn County Sheriff’s Office was called to an outbuilding behind a home at 3699 East Otter Road shortly before 4 p.m. Emergency crews found four people with serious injuries. Three died at the scene and one was flown to the hospital by helicopter with life-threatening injuries.

“We do not believe there is any danger to the public,” Linn County Sheriff Brian Gardner said Wednesday evening. “Investigators are still on site and examining the scene. … We will probably be on site most of the night.”

The sheriff’s office said late Wednesday that 34-year-old Luke Truesdell was arrested on attempted murder charges in connection with the case and that additional charges are pending.

The identities of the dead will not be released until family members are notified. The three bodies will be taken to the state medical examiner’s office in Ankeny for an autopsy, Gardner said.

The Sheriff’s Office was assisted on scene by the Iowa State Patrol, Robins Police Department, Hiawatha Fire and Ambulance, Center Point Ambulance and the Alburnett Fire Department.
