Kevin Costner refused to cut his 17-minute eulogy to Whitney Houston so networks could run commercials

Continuing, Kevin Costner revealed that the eulogy he wrote was 17 minutes long and also expressed hesitation in giving it. If you remember, Costner And Whitney Houston met and developed a close bond after starring in the critically acclaimed 1992 film The bodyguard. The film grossed $411 million worldwide and was the second highest-grossing film of the year.

The film was also launched that of Houston musical career to new heights, as his covers of “I Will Always Love You” and “I Have Nothing” led the film’s soundtrack, which went on to win Album of the Year at the 36th Grammy Awards . It looks like it remains the best-selling film soundtrack of all time. Although he is present to support Houston through success, Costner said he initially wasn’t going to speak at his funeral until fellow artist Dionne Warwick persuaded him otherwise. He recalled on this subject:

“I could feel the weight on her, now it’s transferred to me… What am I going to say about this little girl? (I) went back to this church in Newark and it was full. It was electric. There were two bands playing, the church was alive. It was like, boom! »
