Woman arrested in connection with Robert Miller sex crimes investigation

Article content

Less than a week after announcing the arrest of Montreal billionaire Robert Miller on 21 charges of sexual exploitation, Montreal police said Tuesday they had arrested a 67-year-old woman they described as a member of Miller’s “entourage.”

Teresita Fuentes, a Westmount resident who lives at the same address as Miller, was arrested in Montreal on Tuesday and charged with pimping. The charges were filed in connection with the 10 alleged victims who are part of the indictment filed last week against Miller, the founder of Future Electronics.

The only charge listed in the arrest warrant is that Fuentes “induced a person to offer or provide a person to facilitate, recruit, retain, conceal, or harbor an offense (under a section of the penal code that covers pimping) offering or providing a person, or exercising control, direction, or influence over the movements of a person offering or providing sexual services for consideration.”

Fuentes is alleged to have done so between January 1, 2015 and January 28, 2018. The time period corresponds to one of two arrest warrants issued against Miller last week. Miller is accused of three counts in the warrant, including one alleging he sexually assaulted a person and another charge similar to Fuentes’. This crime is alleged to have occurred between January 1, 2015 and November 29, 2016. The victim is referred to by the same initials in both warrants.

In a statement released Tuesday, police said Fuentes was released after signing an agreement to appear in court on July 3.

According to property records, the Westmount address listed as Fuentes and Miller’s residence is owned by Miller.

The documentary broadcast by Rdio-Canada’s Enquête, which launched the Montreal police investigation into Miller, mentions the same address as one where he allegedly met young women, sometimes under the age of 18, after he stopped staying in hotels.

Class action lawsuit documents against Miller, which include women who claim he paid for sex with them when they were underage, show that he bought the property from an executive vice president at Future Electronics in 2004. The following year, the vice president sold the property to a numbering company. From 2008 to 2021, the numbering company’s address was listed as Future Electronics’ headquarters in Pointe-Claire.

Police again ask anyone who believes they may have been a victim of sexual exploitation in this case or who has information that could advance the investigation to call police at 514-280-8522 or contact their local police or Info-Crime Montreal at 514-393-1133.
