Taunton Police arrest man after incident at Taunton District Court

TAUNTON – Police Chief Edward Walsh reports that Taunton police arrested and charged a man following an incident in Taunton District Court Monday afternoon.

LOUIS CHAVES, 68 years old, from TAUNTON was arrested and charged with:

• Assault with a dangerous weapon (two counts)
• Mayhem

On Monday, June 3rd, at around 4pm, Taunton Police received a report that CHAVES had attacked several media representatives from various media outlets leaving the courthouse following his arraignment for an incident related to Monday morning at Taunton High School.

During the subsequent investigation, Taunton Police contacted CHAVES and arrested him on Monday evening.

He is due to appear in Taunton District Court today.

These are allegations. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
