4 biggest concerns for the Atlanta Falcons heading into summer

Even if the Atlanta Falcons are right about Trice and can develop the rookie, it’s rare for a day two passer to step in and contribute at a high level. That leaves the top two options on Atlanta’s roster, Lorenzo Carter and Arnold Ebiketie.

They are perfect opposites in the most awkward way. Carter sets the edge well and is an excellent run defender. Carter’s abilities as a tackler and his willingness to pursue the play are evident. This is all great, but these are by far Carter’s best qualities as a passer. Barring a shocking jump in development, Carter won’t get the quarterback slot with any regularity.

Arnold Ebiketie has shown himself capable of getting to the quarterback with regularity, but needs to improve almost every other part of his game. Ebiketie is Atlanta’s best hope of finding double-digit sacks in 2024.

That’s a scary thought when you consider the run defense and ability to finish plays. Ebiketie has continually grown, but it is still far from ideal. Atlanta must continue to explore every avenue possible to add a capable passer. Whether it’s a veteran or a trade, Atlanta needs to stay active at the position.
