Lubbock Police appoint MPD chief as new police chief

MIDLAND, Texas (KMID/KPEJ) – The City of Lubbock has announced that current Midland Police Chief Seth Herman will take over as the new Lubbock Police Chief.

Herman beat out three other finalists and will now fill in for interim chief Gregory Rushin, who was appointed to the position in September. Herman is expected to join LPD on June 3rd.

“It is my great honor to serve as the next Chief of Police for the Lubbock Police Department…I am honored to work with the outstanding members of the LPD who protect and serve citizens every day. “I can’t wait to get to work and build on the department’s positive momentum,” Herman said of his recent appointment.

“The City of Midland thanks him for his many years of dedicated service and leadership,” the City of Midland said in a statement Tuesday.

There is currently no word on who the next MPD chief will be.
