1 dead and 2 injured after gunman opens fire in Joliet home

JOLIET, Illinois – One man was killed and two others injured when a gunman opened fire on a Joliet home late Saturday night.

According to Joliet police, officers were called to a home in the 400 block of Krakar Avenue shortly after 11 p.m. after receiving reports that a person had been shot in the area.


When officers arrived on scene, they found three victims: a 23-year-old man who had been shot in the head, a 20-year-old man who had suffered multiple gunshot wounds to his body, and a 27-year-old man who had suffered a graze wound to the head.

The 23-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident, the 20-year-old was taken to hospital in stable condition and the 27-year-old was treated in hospital and released.

According to preliminary investigations, officers believe that the shots were fired from outside the house and that the victims were in the living room at the time.

Officers who searched the scene said they found more than 25 empty bullet casings.

Officials said it appeared to be an isolated incident and added that there was no known danger to the public.

Authorities have not yet identified the victim who was killed and it is currently unclear what led to the shooting.
