TEHAMA COUNTY, California. – Action News Now is tracking another early morning shooting in Tehama County, this time in Gerber, leaving one person dead.

This shooting in Gerber occurred an hour before the shooting in Red Bluff that left one man hospitalized.

After shooting in Tehama County that left one dead and one injured, deputies search for shooter

The Tehama County Sheriff’s Office currently believes the suspect is at large; no arrests have been made yet.

We were able to speak with neighbors along Ventura Avenue about this fatal shooting.

A video shared with us by neighbors shows paramedics administering CPR and other life-saving measures to one of the two men who were shot. They took one man to the hospital, and the other was pronounced dead at the scene.

Neighbors say they don’t know exactly who the two men are, but they suspect one of the shooting victims was a homeowner on the block.

Neighbors also said they heard noises after midnight that sounded like an argument between men, and that’s when they heard the gunshots.

“I feel sorry for the family because they were defending their house and he was all alone. From what I heard, there were three people there. One escaped, one was injured and one died. There was just a lot of police presence and a lot of action here. The fire department came, there was an ambulance, I think there were even two ambulances,” said a neighbor.

“When it was quieter, I heard ‘Ayudame, Ayudame, Ayudame, please help me’ in Spanish,” said a neighbor.

Action News Now reached out to the Tehama County Sheriff’s Office and we even went there in person to ask them for an answer to the question of whether someone might have tried to break into another person’s home, but they did not respond.
