4 Buffalo Bills who impressed in Week 2 of OTAs

Another defensive back heading into a pivotal offseason is former first-round pick Kaiir Elam. At this point, Elam didn’t make much of an impact and even struggled to get on the court as players like Christian Benford passed him on the depth chart.

This will be Elam’s third season in the NFL and the Bills are going to have to make a tough decision on how to proceed with the former first-round pick. They can certainly keep him on the roster at depth, but if they aren’t confident in the ability to play extended snaps, it might be best to trade him now where he still has some value versus next offseason if he wants to be healthy again. of this season.

During Tuesday’s training, Andy Young noted that Elam had some good coverage reps, which is great to see for a player trying to make his case for a key piece of this defense.

After Tuesday’s practice, Elam met with reporters and he’s certainly getting the job done. Thad Brown tweeted that Elam was working with Taron Johnson to try to play like a smaller defensive back with an emphasis on footwork.

However, Brown brings up an important point, something that has become evident since he was drafted, which is that Elam is not a good fit for this defense and what McDermott wants from his cornerbacks. It will be interesting to see how the rest of the summer plays out for the former first-round pick.
