Woman allegedly raped in cardiology clinic

LAHORE:

A woman was allegedly raped at the Punjab Institute of Cardiology (PIC) in Shadman, Lahore, after she was promised an expedited operation for her father.

The victim, M*, reported that she was taking care of her father, Shaukat Ali, who was admitted at the PIC. According to her, a man named Azam approached her at her father’s bedside and offered to prioritize her father’s surgery.

“I have made such arrangements for three other people from the community as well,” Azam claimed, convincing them to give her her contact number.

The next day, Azam called M* and told her he wanted to put her in touch with the man who was in charge of organizing the operation. She followed his instructions and went to the second floor of the hospital, where another man was waiting for her.

When she arrived, the man locked the door and left, and Azam allegedly raped her.

“I didn’t make a fuss to save my reputation,” M* explained.

The police have registered the case and arrested the suspect after receiving the information. Further investigation is underway.
