First Alert Weather: A changeable Memorial Day with showers and storms

ROCHESTER, NY – This Memorial Day, we wake up to a mix of sun and clouds and mild temperatures as temperatures start at around 21 degrees.

The mild weather will continue throughout the day, with highs in the 80s, but unfortunately it won’t be dry. With showers and storms forecast for the holidays, the First Alert Weather Team will maintain the yellow warning for all of us on Monday. Showers and storms will arrive shortly after 10 a.m. and last until about 2 p.m. Widespread showers and storms are expected during this period before storm chances become spotty afterward.

Monday will not be a washout as the sun returns late in the afternoon. Still, it won’t stay completely dry as the chance of isolated and scattered storms lingers into Monday night. Storms moving in Monday morning and afternoon may bring locally heavy rain and gusty winds, but our serious threat is very limited on Memorial Day.

After the holidays we are seeing some changes in our region. A cold front will pass through on Monday evening and behind it comes a good load of cool air. Temperatures will only reach the 18°C mid-week, with windy weather. Scattered showers are forecast for Tuesday, scattered showers on Wednesday, then drier weather with sunshine returns on Thursday.
