Coroner identifies man killed in Gilroy traffic accident May 19 | Gilroy Shipping

According to police, a 32-year-old man was struck and killed by a teenage driver early on the morning of May 19 near Saint Louise Regional Hospital in Gilroy.

Around 12:30 a.m., officers were called to the area of ​​the 9400 block of No Name Uno, near the hospital, and found the man, a Gilroy resident, lying in the street.

A hospital nurse drove by and rendered medical aid, but the victim was pronounced dead a short time later, authorities said.

The driver remained at the scene of the accident and cooperated with police, who stated that drugs and alcohol did not appear to have played a role.

On May 21, the Santa Clara County Coroner’s Office identified the pedestrian as Salvador Montelongo, a 32-year-old Gilroy resident.

The accident is currently being investigated by the Gilroy Police Department’s Major Accident Investigations Team (MAIT), police said.
