Shehbaz Sharif suspends procurement of PASSCO MD and GM

Prime Minister (Prime Minister) Shehbaz Sharif on Monday suspended the Managing Director and General Manager Procurement of PASSCO for not following instructions regarding use of technology in wheat procurement process.

Prime Minister Sharif chaired a meeting on wheat stocks in Lahore and directed the authorities concerned to use technology to make the wheat procurement process clean and transparent, adding that a mobile phone application should be developed in this regard.

Shehbaz Sharif directed to conduct a third party audit of PASSCO shares. He said crop insurance should be ensured for farmers’ economic security.

transparent and efficient. The farmer’s loss will not be tolerated under any circumstances.

He said high-performing PASSCO centers and officials will be selected and recognized at the government level.

Shehbaz Sharif said the government is taking all possible steps to ensure food security in the country and all measures are being taken for the welfare of farmers.

The meeting was attended by Federal Cabinet Members Muhammad Aurangzeb, Rana Tanveer Hussain, Ahad Khan Cheema, Jam Kamal Khan, Shaza Fatima Khawaja, Prime Minister’s Coordinator Rana Ehsan Afzal and relevant senior officials.
