Amazon delivery driver praised for assisting in Rutland hit-and-run investigation

RUTLAND – An Amazon delivery driver received a letter of commendation from the Rutland Police Department for her quick response to a hit-and-run accident on April 17.

Lesleigh Nydam of Woonsocket, Rhode Island, was in the middle of her delivery route when she witnessed a vehicle hit a pedestrian.

Without hesitation, she pursued the fleeing vehicle on foot and managed to provide the 911 dispatcher with a detailed description including the vehicle make, model, direction of travel and part of the license plate.

Thanks to Nydam’s quick response, police were able to locate the suspect’s vehicle.

Rutland Police recognized her brave efforts by presenting her with a letter of recommendation, which was also forwarded to her employer.

Nydam’s actions were not only commendable, but also crucial to the ongoing hit-and-run investigation.
