Soldier dies in non-combat training accident

FORT JOHNSON, La. (KPLC) – A U.S. Army soldier has died as a result of a training accident at the Joint Readiness Training Center (JRTC) at Fort Johnson.

The Soldier was assigned to the 749th Ordnance Company, 242nd Explosive Ordnance Battalion (EOD), 71st EOD Group at Fort Carson, Colorado.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with the Soldier’s family, friends and colleagues during this difficult time,” said JRTC and Fort Johnson commanding general Maj. Gen. David W. Gardner.

The soldier’s name is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

The cause of the accident is currently being investigated.
