Fl. Man admits abusing child during job interview, cops say

A man has been found guilty of sexual assault after officials said he admitted it during a job interview for the Apopka Police Department. According to a press release from District Attorney Andrew Bain’s office, 26-year-old Stephen Bodley was conducting an interview in 2021 for a position as a sworn police officer for the Apopka Police Department. During the interview, officials said a certified voice stress examiner conducted a voice stress exam on Bodley because of the concerning answers he gave on a preliminary questionnaire. In the preliminary questionnaire, officials said Bodley admitted and described sexually abusing a child a few years ago. He reportedly admitted it again during the vocal stress exam and provided more details about the incident. The APD then began a criminal investigation into Bodley’s confession, and after further investigation, investigators were able to obtain details about the victim. Officers arranged a meeting with the victim and the victim’s mother. Bodley was then arrested and denied any abuse he had previously committed on three separate occasions. The jury found Bodley guilty of sexual battery on a child under 12. Bodley will be sentenced on June 24.
