Two SLO County residents arrested for multiple drug possession violations in Arroyo Grande

ARROYO GRANDE, Calif. – Two San Luis Obispo County residents were arrested Tuesday for possession of several controlled substances following a report of a public disturbance.

On July 30 at around 12:40 p.m., officers were dispatched to the 1300 block of Ash Street because a man was chasing a woman screaming for help, Arroyo Grande police said in a news release about the incident Wednesday.

The screaming woman used the phone of the person who reported the disturbance to police to contact her mother and mentioned that the man chasing her was heading to a nearby Burger King, but both the woman and man had left the area before officers arrived and told Arroyo Grande police.

According to Arroyo Grande police, officers arrived at the Burger King and saw a woman matching the description of the screaming woman get into the passenger seat of a vehicle.

Officers stopped the vehicle and spoke with a 30-year-old man from Ocean who was under administrative supervision and a 26-year-old woman from Nipomo who had been released on her own recognizance and reported to Arroyo Grande Police.

According to Arroyo Grande police, officers searched the vehicle and discovered suspected fentanyl and methamphetamine, as well as paraphernalia and evidence of drug sales.

The 30-year-old Oceano man was carrying a knife, a violation of the terms of his post-release parole, and both individuals were taken into custody at the scene, Arroyo Grande police said.

Due to the 30-year-old man’s previous involvement in drug trafficking and the items seized during the traffic stop, officers were able to obtain a search warrant for the man’s home, which revealed additional quantities of methamphetamine and paraphernalia that had been provided to the Arroyo Grande Police Department.

Both individuals were booked into the San Luis Obispo County Jail on the following charges:

  • H&SC 11351-Possession of controlled substances for sale
  • H&SC 11378-Possession of methamphetamine for sale
  • H&SC 11377(a)-Possession of Methamphetamine
  • H&SC 11375(b)(2)-Possession of Xanax
  • H&SC 11364(a)-Possession of drug paraphernalia
