Latest incident in Southport: Two children killed and nine injured in knife attack at dance class

Joanne, a therapy nurse who lives in the area, says she lost her job after receiving a call from a friend.

“When she told me, I literally ran out of work… my priority was just my girls, my girls, my girls… I’m just so thankful to God that they’re safe,” says Joanne, who has two daughters, ages 11 and 20.

She says one of her daughters heard “a pretty scary scream” while she was in the garden around the time of the incident.

“Nobody can believe it. All the mothers in the area have been asking each other. I am sure we all know someone from this poor group,” she adds.

“The mother that I was just comforting, just the look on her face knowing that something had happened to her child, it was like, oh my God, how can you even comprehend this… there’s nothing you can do.”
