KARACHI: Gas supply in some areas interrupted for 24 hours

Starting Sunday morning, gas supplies will be cut off in half of Karachi for 24 hours

According to a Sui Southern spokesman, the outage, which affects both residential and industrial customers, is due to work on the transmission line.

The affected areas include:

  • City of Surjani
  • Mangopir
  • Qasba City
  • Orangi
  • North Karachi
  • North Nazimabad
  • FB area
  • Gulberg
  • Buffer zone
  • Location Industrial area
  • Baldia
  • Ittehad City
  • Kemari
  • Gulshan-e-Iqbal
  • Ahasanabad
  • Janjal Goth
  • Super Highway Surroundings

Gas supplies will be interrupted at 5:00 a.m. on July 28 and resumed at 5:00 a.m. on July 29. Consumers are advised to seek alternative fuel sources during this period.

Current developments in the gas sector in Sindh

In other news, Mari Petroleum Company has successfully discovered new gas reserves from five wells in Sindh. The company has completed testing, production and transfer of an additional 3 million cubic feet of gas per day (MMSCFD). This new supply from the Ghazij gas field will now be supplied to Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL).

The announcement came after detailed reports were submitted to the Pakistan Stock Exchange.

It is important to mention that recently a 24-inch diameter Sui gas pipeline in Mach was blown up by criminals, resulting in disruption of gas supply in several areas including Quetta. The explosion resulted in complete disruption of gas supply in the affected regions.
