Lane closures on West Atlanta Road in Cobb County Friday and Sunday overnight

The Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) announced a single lane closure on West Atlanta Street (SR 5) from South Cobb Drive to Marietta Parkway Friday and Sunday overnight.

The press release regarding the closures describes the scope and schedule of the work as follows:

Weather and site conditions permitting, an alternating left and right lane closure will be in place on SR 5/West Atlanta St in the project area beginning at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, July 26 and continuing through 6:00 a.m. on Sunday, July 28. These lane closures will help keep drivers and workers safe while crews continue milling, paving and resurfacing operations on the roadway.

The $1.1 million project is expected to be completed in fall 2024.
