Robbery suspect shot dead by police in West Hollywood

WEST HOLLYWOOD, Calif. (KABC) — A robbery suspect was shot and killed by a Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputy in a West Hollywood neighborhood on Saturday.

According to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, the shooting occurred around 5:40 p.m. in the 1100 block of N. Gardener Street.

The suspected robber died in hospital from a gunshot wound. Detectives told Eyewitness News that the man was suspected of robbing a corner convenience store, but officers caught him in the middle of N. Gardner Street, an area full of apartments and houses.

It is unclear what led to the shooting.

Authorities said a weapon was found at the scene.

None of the officers were injured in the shooting. The investigation was still ongoing late Saturday.
