Brazilian musician Ayres Sasaki died this week after being electrocuted during a live show… while hugging a soaking wet fan onstage.

The incident, which occurred during Sasaki’s concert at the Solar Hotel in Salinopolis, Brazil, occurred when the singer hugged the wet fan, and according to The sunThe contact triggered a jolt on a nearby cable, which caused the fatal electric shock.

Why the fan was wet is still unclear, but Salinopolis police are investigating the incident.

According to Brazilian news reports, the civil police of Pará said that witnesses had given statements and that they had requested expert opinions.

The hotel released a statement on Instagram saying: “We are fully committed to providing support to his family and taking the necessary measures. We reiterate our commitment to fully cooperate with the relevant authorities in properly clarifying the events.”

Sasaki was also a newlywed architect and urban planner. He leaves behind his wife Mariana, to whom he was married for eleven months.

He was only 35 years old.
