Man suspected of sexually assaulting woman with newborn arrested

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA – Police have arrested a man suspected of sexually assaulting and beating a woman as she walked with her newborn baby in a stroller in broad daylight in an affluent West Los Angeles neighborhood this week.

The brazen attack shocked the population of the normally safe neighborhood.

Police received a report of a sexual assault in the 900 block of South Gretna Green Way around 5 p.m. Tuesday.

“The male suspect approached the victim and began to beat her while she was walking with her baby,” said Los Angeles Police Department Officer Charles Miller. “The suspect and victim struck each other and the suspect fled on foot.”

The suspect was described as a man with long hair and no shirt. Miller told Patch that the LAPD had a suspect in custody Thursday morning. His name has not been released publicly.

The victim spoke about the ordeal.

“It was really horrible,” Carmina Lu told KTLA. “I never expected something like this to happen, especially a month after giving birth to such a beautiful baby.”

“He grabbed my hips with both hands and started sexually assaulting me,” Lu added.

“Thank God the baby was not touched,” Lu said. “Honestly, what scared me the most was that he took a quick look at my stroller just before he ran away. If anything had happened to the baby, I would have been devastated.”
