Just before 10 p.m. on 7/4/24, TCSO officers, with assistance from other local agencies, were called to a traffic accident in the 23800 block of Avenue 324 in Woodlake. Officers were advised that someone had been ejected from the car during the accident but had left the scene.

While they were investigating the accident, someone began shooting at law enforcement officers on the scene, including TCSO officers. The suspect also fired several shots at the TCSO drone, attempting to shoot it out of the air.

With the help of a drone, officers were able to identify the house from which the shots came. The TCSO SWAT team was called to the scene and the suspect, 27-year-old Jesse Herrera of Woodlake, was arrested without incident.
