Who was Sergio Pino? Millionaire Miami real estate developer found dead – NBC 6 South Florida

Sergio Pino, a well-known and wealthy South Florida real estate developer, was found dead in his home. He committed suicide while the FBI was still investigating criminal charges related to his bitter divorce battle with his wife of 32 years.

The charges included arson and stalking, as well as Tatiana Pino’s accusation that her husband poisoned her. They are part of an ongoing federal investigation that has already led to the arrests of four people, but Sergio Pino has not yet been charged with a crime.

The beginning of Century Homebuilders

If you see the word “century” in a construction project in Miami-Dade, it probably started with the Pino family.

Sergio Pino was the founder of Century Homebuilders Group, LLC, which was founded in 1995 and is the largest Hispanic-owned homebuilder in the country, according to its website. The group boasts of having acquired, developed and/or managed over 50 multifamily and condominium communities containing over 15,000 homes in Miami-Dade and Broward counties.

He was also the founder and chairman and president of Century Partners Group and started his first business venture at age 20 with Century Plumbing, a plumbing retailer that “quickly grew to become the largest Hispanic-owned plumbing company in the country.”

Social Commitment

An active member of the South Florida community, he served as president of the politically influential Latin Builders Association from 1989 to 1992 and was either a member or held leadership positions in the Builders Association of South Florida, the Public Health Trust, Jackson Memorial Hospital, the Mercy Foundation, the Board of Trustees of Florida International University, and others.

Sergio Pino was also appointed to the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) Commission by Governor Jeb Bush in 2000.

philanthropy

According to the Century Group website, Sergio Pino and his companies have raised awareness and funds for La Liga Contra el Cancer and the American Cancer Society/Making Strides Against Breast Cancer, Miami-Dade Parks and Recreation Department, Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, Miami Children’s Hospital, Jackson Memorial Hospital, and Habitat for Humanity. He has also provided significant funding for Florida International University’s Eugenio Pino & Family Global Entrepreneurship Center, named after his father and family.
