  • Police chase for wanted fugitive ends in the parking lot of Panda Express

STAFFORD, VA — A wanted man’s attempt to evade arrest ended dramatically last night when Stafford County officers intercepted him in the parking lot of a restaurant. The incident occurred around 9:20 p.m. Tuesday near Panda Express on Worth Avenue.

Deputies Sergeant JD Hurt, DA Robertson and XD Bates were on patrol when they recognized 22-year-old Derrick Eady, who was wanted for warrant and parole violations. Eady was spotted near Home Depot and deputies attempted to arrest him, which led to a chase.

The pursuit continued through the parking lot to a small wooded area behind Panda Express, where Eady attempted to escape by climbing over a retaining wall and fence surrounding the restaurant. However, officers outsmarted him by taking a shortcut and were able to observe Eady falling from the fence back into the parking lot.

This fall marked the end of Eady’s brief run from justice. He was promptly arrested, served with outstanding warrants, and charged with obstruction of justice. Eady is currently being held without bail in the Rappahannock Regional Jail.
