Police have released an image of a suspect they are pursuing after two suitcases containing human remains were left on the Clifton Suspension Bridge in Bristol.

Shortly before midnight on Wednesday evening, the police received a report of a man behaving strangely. The police are asking anyone with information to come forward.

Here’s everything we know about the discovery, the remains and the suspect.

What happened on the Clifton Suspension Bridge?

Shortly before midnight on Wednesday evening, police received a report of a man walking on the heritage-listed bridge in Bristol.

A man was taken to the bridge by taxi but disappeared even though officers were on the scene within 10 minutes.

The man left one suitcase behind and a second suitcase was found not far away.

Who is the suspect?

The police do not know the identity of the suspect, but have published a photo The man’s.

He is described as a black man with a beard, wearing a black Adidas baseball cap, black jeans, a black jacket and black sneakers with thick white soles.

He also had a black backpack with him and wore a gold earring.

According to police, the suspect headed toward Leigh Woods after leaving the suitcases behind.

Who is the victim?

Police said an autopsy was performed on the human remains found in the suitcases on Thursday evening, but the victim had not yet been identified.

They also refused to answer questions about the number of possible victims and the age and gender of the victims.

Acting Bristol Commander Vicks Hayward-Melen confirmed that police had been in contact with the missing man’s family. Jack O’Sullivan to “inform them about the incident,” but said “no parallels would be drawn.”

What do we know about the police investigation?

The taxi driver who took the suspect to the Clifton Suspension Bridge is cooperating with officers investigating the discovery and his vehicle has been impounded.

The bridge remains closed while specialized forensic investigators examine the area.

Commander Hayward-Melen said Avon and Somerset Police “currently have an increased officer presence in the area and I encourage anyone with concerns to please speak to a member of the team”.

Police are appealing for anyone with information to contact them, but are warning the public not to approach the suspect and to instead call 999 if they see him.
